Well, just as I predicted in the last Chapter news input, we are now in the middle of the first heat wave of the summer season and it isn’t even officially summer yet! While the weather in Connecticut has surely changed, not much else has since my last writing in May. Our June 19th meeting featuring CDR Jamie Sands, ’92, as our guest speaker in Trumbull, has not yet occurred as of this writing, so there is nothing to report on that front. Details of this meeting will be included in next month’s news. Action items assigned at the last Board of Director’s meeting at Ray Boyd’s house in Guilford are being pursued by the action officers and results will be reported when received and approved.
Given that this is a “slow news” time of the year, (and I am suffering from writer’s block) I can only think of one thing worth reiterating. It is critical that all USNA graduates resident within the State of Connecticut insure that their personal information is up-to-date in the database maintained by our parent Alumni Association at
www.usna.com. I say that this is critical because our current Chapter leadership is embarked on an effort to “reach out and serve” all graduates within the state. The primary means of achieving this is via e-mail and our state database is only as good as the information contained in the USNA database. So please consider updating your information at the earliest opportunity. At last check, it was discovered that we are unable to communicate with nearly half of the graduates who live within the state. Please help us improve this situation.
When our President, Ray Boyd, ’73, attended the Chapter President’s meeting in Annapolis in April, he reported that the new NAVY Football Coach addressed the assembled group. Ray said that the coach was pleased and proud to have been chosen for the job and gave a very optimistic assessment of the team’s future. So bring on Air Force, Army and Notre Dame!!
